The purpose of the Award is to encourage accounting best practice in the preparation and presentation of NSW Council annual financial statements.

The judging criteria are:

The non-audit aspects of:

  • compliance with the Australian Accounting Standards and the NSW Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting
  • format and presentation of the statements
  • readability and information provided to users
  • appropriateness, wording and content of narrative notes

    • The following matters will NOT be taken into account

  • the size of the numbers involved
  • the result for the year, or the financial condition of the Council
  • any matter raised in the Audit Report
  • use or otherwise of Coalface Software Solutions software
