The TRAINERS - David MAXWELL is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and an Associate of Local Government Managers Australia with over 30 years experience in Local Government as Auditor, Council Clerk and Consultant.
As author of the Coalface spreadsheet templates used by over 300 Councils throughout Australia, he is acknowledged as an expert in the practical application of accounting principles and practices to Local Government situations David also drafts the Model Statements on behalf of the Financial Management Project Group of the LGA of SA.

Ian McDonald is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with over 25 years experience as an Auditor of SA Councils. Formerly employed by Dean Newbery, Ian is now a freelance consultant specialising in Local Government. His detailed knowledge of the operations of SA Councils - and of the practical problems that accounting staff face - is probably unsurpassed. Ian has presented numerous workshop and training sessions for elected members and Council staff.

2010 Annual Financial Statements

Coalface Training will run a series of training courses specifically designed to assist you and your Council in the lead up to this year's Annual Financial Statements season.

TWO DAY COURSES
These are specifically designed to assist officers in small Councils with those once per year tasks that need to be done for the Statements.
The courses will cover:


  • The 2010 Model Statements - changes to the Model Statements - what you can leave out - what must go in.
  • Using the IPWEA Australian Infrastructure Financial Management Guidelines
  • Working through the Statement of Cash Flows
  • A look at the new LTFP version 3.
